    I am not saying this to hurt anyone feeling but changing your oil on time every time will save your engine and using quality oil. 159k no lifter tick done oil changes on time and ran Mobil 1 full synthetic which Mopar recommends beside thier own oil. Idle times in my truck have been limited not because I'm dodging lifter tick but because I don't have 500 dollars a week to pay for gas!!

    Hi scott, love your videos been subscribed for a while now, I have a 2016 dodge charger pursuit with the v8. I have noticed that the engine everytime you start it it rattles for literally 3 seconds and then it stops. Was wondering if that wad lifter failure? Should I be worried? Thank you very much

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto Годину тому

      That's pretty common if the engine sits for a few days in between starts. If it's happening after it sits for just one night it's likely you've got a lifter that is leaking on the hydraulic side. The good news on that front is that it's not a degenerative failure like if the lifter roller was failing, primarily it's just annoying.

      @dpenton to be honest I don't personally have a lot of experience with aftermarket cams so I don't feel qualified to give recommendations. But if you call the cam companies directly they usually have really good tech support that can guide you to a cam that fits your needs. 👍

    Quick question, I am swapping my 06 Jeep commander 3.7 4x2 to a 07 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7 4x4. Any advice on this swap. I already have the GC and I have pulled the complete drivetrain out from the bottom and have 90% of the harness under the dash removed from the GC as well. Do I really need to swap the complete harness or can I use the 3.7 TIPM and under dash harness? Thanks

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto День тому

      You'll have to use absolutely everything you can, and i suspect you'll still have some configuration issues when you try to start it. Make sure you're swapping the wcm as well, it won't recognize your PCM for the 5.7

    • @user-rs3iq3gg7m
      @user-rs3iq3gg7m 14 годин тому

      What is the WCM and do you know where it is located?

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto 11 годин тому

      @user-rs3iq3gg7m the WCM is the wireless control module. It tells the vehicle that you are using the correct keys for the vehicle which are coded to the PCM and will let it start. The WCM is located at the key ignition.

    • @user-rs3iq3gg7m
      @user-rs3iq3gg7m 5 годин тому

      If I reprogram the pcm with my VIN from the commander then will the WCM from the commander work. Also, is there a programmer I can buy to use for myself to do this and what about Hp tuners? Thanks and great work on that magnum.

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto 3 години тому

      @user-rs3iq3gg7m once a vin is programmed to a pcm it's very difficult to overwrite that. It may be possible with HP tuners but you'd have to contact them directly to find out. I do think configuration issues will be your biggest challenge. If you're able to get those figured out the rest should be smooth sailing.

    Could the MDS lifters be the ones that fail because they are constantly being hammered against the crankshaft when they engage, tens of millions times. 75% of the pictures I can find look like MDS lobes. I'm new to all this but just received an 07 1500 with 237 k and although it seems to be running perfectly and purring miles are up there and I don't know the previous history on the vehicle. I'm considering crankshaft replacement and MDS delete with upgraded oil pump preemptively as everything else seems to be good.

    I have 3 vehicles with 5.7 hemis. The 2015 Challenger has 40k miles has no hemi tick and runs great. I used 10-40 syn with a quart of lucas oil stabilizer on every 3-4 mile oil change. My 300 has 170 k miles with the same oil procedure. This one runs perfect and gets a solid 21 mpg and has zero hemi tick. My ram 1500 has 280 k miles. This is daily driver maintenance is pretty lack. I do not warm it up and the kicker is this thing has massive amount of idle time. I let it run in the summer all day long with A/C running and in winter it idles all day (8-10) hours. One winter win i had charging system issues i let it run for 4 days never shut it down between 10 mile trips to work. Out of this 96 hours the idle time was over 90 hours. This engine is still solid with zero hemi tick. The biggest question i have is between the ram and the 300. The 300 gets a solid 21mpg and the ram struggles to get 12 mpg. In addition i drive the ram way easier than the 300.

    Couldn't you achieve the same thing by just adding a heavier weight oil ?

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto 7 днів тому

      No because pressure is simply a reflection of resistance to flow. If you add the heavier weight oil, yes the pressure number goes up but you haven't changed the AMOUNT of oil going through the system. So you end up with a placebo effect where the number is higher so you feel better, but there's no change internally. However if you change to a high volume pump, the pressure will go up naturally because more oil is physically being forced through the engine, which is actually what we're trying to accomplish. 👍

      @@ReignitedAuto The difference between the two pumps is only 2 millimeters . How much higher will the pressure actually go ? I wouldn't think it would be very much . That's why I asked my initial question . Maybe 5lbs ??? IDK

    • @ReignitedAuto
      @ReignitedAuto 7 днів тому

      @randymiller5008 there's a 12% increase with the Hellcat pump. The 10452HV pump from Melling gives a 20% increase. Since it's a fixed displacement pump the increase is the same no matter what the RPM.

      @@ReignitedAuto Even at 20 percent. It's still only 8 psi 🙄

      @ReignitedAuto 7 днів тому

      @randymiller5008 once again, you're focusing on the PSI numbers which are irrelevant. 20% more oil would be moving through the oiling system at its most vulnerable time, idling. I'm not really sure why you're being disparaging here, if you don't feel like this would help that's of course your right and opinion, I couldn't care less.

    Is it also possible to replace the cam on a charger without pulling the engine? 2014 5.7 hemi awd. I'm looking to do an mds delete and 130k mile service on a car I'm buying soon. + install a high volume oil pump. Greatly appreciate your videos, I always shied away from dodge but now that I know exactly what problems the 5.7 can have and how to fix/prevent them I'm very excited to do a light rebuild and end up with a very reliable, comfy, awd v8!

      Yep, it's the exact same process shown in this video. 👍

    Combine this with the fact that Stellantis allows for their motors to run as hot as 230 at idle Wonder why they break. The motors themselves are built pretty well all things considered It’s the poor design

    I think the VVT system is the cause of lifter failure! Pre-eagle Hemi's had very few cam/lifter failures more valve seat issues

    I just did this to my 2014 charger and it went flawlessly. Well... Almost. I now have a reading of 0 oil pressure at idle, and only goes to 25 when driving. Some recommend to check out the oil pickup tube, and replace the oil pressure sensor. I should also mention that I installed the high volume oil pump from melling as well + did mds delete. Any ideas what I did wrong? It was going perfect when I first started it, no low oil pressure symbol. I took it fkor the test drive, then all of the sudden I see a low oil pressure symbol show up when I came to an idle, about 2 minutes into the test drive.
